AND A LITTLE MORE RED

An outdoor festival of fine music, food and wine

SUNDAY 17 AUGUST | 1.00pm|CHANDLER |BRISBANE

The idea of And A Little More Red has been percolating in our brains for a while – the concept of a day of music, food and wine in a gorgeous setting, an event to stir the senses, warm the musical heartstrings and, hopefully, to create happy memories.

 And here it is!

A one-day mini-festival featuring concerts from The Boxties and internationally acclaimed violinist Glenn Christensen, followed by a long lunch created by in-demand Adelaide chefs, Jo Leal and Jimmy Toone, hosted by wine guru Olivia Evans.

Set amongst the orange trees, grape vines, vegetables and rose bushes at “Glendalore”, the home of two of the Boxties’ favourite collaborators Marcia and Lee, it will be a little more of everything we love – music, food, wine, conversation and party-time!

The day will start with a drink and canapes on the lawn before guests are seated at the concert stage for the first performance, featuring Glenn Christensen and Brett Sturdy.

Glenn is the Associate Concertmaster of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and very much sought after in Australia and overseas as a soloist, chamber musician and guest principal player.

He will be joined on stage by acclaimed pianist and organist Brett Sturdy for some thrilling chamber music, including classic violin favourites that showcase both players’ versatility and virtuosity.

After a short interval – and the opportunity to enjoy another drink – it’s time for the second performance. It features The Boxties with a program blending the precision of classical music with the storytelling of Celtic tradition, the silliness of drinking songs and the genius of Coltrane, Ella, Dolly and Sondheim – exuberant chamber music of a different kind!

Our focus then moves to the outdoor dining area for a full table-service 4-course lunch prepared by Jo Leal and Jimmy Toone, bringing their smash hit Secret Pasta Club menu to Brisbane for the first time.

Lunch will be paired with wines chosen by Olivia Evans, who is one of Australia’s finest sommeliers and a distinguished wine writer and wine judge. For non-drinkers, Olivia offers a specially curated set of non-alcoholic beverages.

Olivia will be host for this part of the afternoon, sharing her passion for all things food, wine and hospitality.

*Due to the nature of the event we cannot cater for dietary requirements. The lunch will contain gluten, dairy and meat.

All the design elements have been lovingly created and coordinated by Brisbane artist Sinead Ward.

Tickets are fully inclusive, covering drinks and canapés on arrival, two concerts, a full table-service long lunch with matching wines or non-alcoholic pairing.

This is a rare opportunity to enjoy fine food and wine along with some of Australia’s best performers, in a classic Brisbane winter setting. We look forward to sharing this special event with you.
