Music is a unifying and uplifting force. Making music together provides demanding challenges and enables spirits to soar. It builds our connections with each other, and can turn the mind towards possibility and hope rather than narrowness and despair.
But today, like many other elements of a truly well-rounded education, access to music tuition is becoming less and less available to those without substantial financial resources, so many young people miss out.
Sponsoring a participant in the Boxties’ mentorship program will help a young person, who cannot otherwise afford it, to gain access to the artistic, intellectual, educational and social benefits that making music provides.
Many of the prospective participants are refugees, many are without families and reliant on ever-tightening welfare or student support payment to get by. Their access to many opportunities that others take for granted are restricted.
If you can help, please consider making a donation that will cover tuition fees.
A donation of $400 will allow a student who needs financial assistance to participate in the Boxties Singers.
A donation of $600 will allow a student who needs financial assistance to participate in the Boxties Ensemble.
