RACHEL KELLY

Tuba

Rachel is a busy freelance tuba player who has played with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Auckland Philharmonia. She is currently Acting Principal Tuba with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

She studied with Thomas Allely at the Queensland Conservatorium, where she was the winner of the 2020 Beta Sigma Phi Brass Prize and recipient of the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship.  Rachel was a student at the Australian National Academy of Music studying with David Cribb, Karina Filipi and Steve Rossé, and has performed as soloist with The Queensland Conservatorium Orchestra and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Rachel has been a member of the Boxties since 2017, performing in shows including Bound Away to Leave You, City of Strangers and A Net of Souls at QPAC’s Cremorne Theatre, and in the ensemble’s ongoing concert series In Good Company.
